Town of Edisto Beach
The Town of Edisto Beach has announced that as of 2:00 PM today they will begin limited access to the beach for these groups:
- Property Owners
- Two people for each business
- Two people for each property management agency.
Bring your identification and proof of residence, business or property management affiliation.
The Town has asked that these individuals only bring one (1) vehicle per residence, business or property management agency. Please evaluate your property today and schedule any repairs or contractor visits no earlier than tomorrow, Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Should conditions dictate any future curfew, it will be announced.
It is advisable that you plan to arrive on the beach prior to nightfall due to the difficulty of identifying hazardous obstacles and the establishment of the curfew this evening. Current conditions will require some preparation and planning for reentry. Bring water and non-perishable food for several days until our grocery services can be opened. There has been a major water leak, which will require that the water be shut off for several hours this afternoon for repairs. This will be followed by a boil water advisory. Conserve water and septic/sewer use. Restrict flushing unless absolutely necessary. The Town is repairing and bringing the pump stations and wells on line. Golf carts must be unplugged immediately and moved from under houses. Fire is a danger following any disaster so also please do not plug in any electrical device that may have been compromised. The Town still has standing water in many places as well as some sand on Palmetto Boulevard. You may have to park in a dry area and walk to your residence. Signs will be posted for areas that are closed. Do not enter standing water as it contains hazards. Bring protective clothing including boots, gloves, insect repellent, long sleeved shirts and pants.
Accessible areas will have garbage pick-up tomorrow.
The Red Cross will have cleaning supplies and water at Bay Creek Park.
