Probate Court

Colleton County Government is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Probate Court Clerk III.  The successful candidate will, under limited supervision, review all mental health case documents; prepare appropriate court orders; coordinate and schedule all mental health hearings held in county; communicate with other probate courts and treatment facilities regarding hearings; prepare all documents related to hearings; and maintain all files in accordance with S.C. laws on archiving and confidentiality.  Additionally, successful candidate will perform a variety of office administrative duties, including answering and screening phone calls, meeting with citizens to explain probate proceedings; copying, filing, etc. 

Requires high school diploma and one year experience performing clerical or general office tasks.  Equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities will be considered.  Successful candidate should possess strong communications and computer skills, familiarity with office equipment, ability to understand and carry out complex instructions, and the ability to work with the public in a pleasant manner.  Pre-employment drug screen and background check is required.
