Director of Recreation

Colleton is seeking applicants for the Director of Recreation position.  The successful candidate will under limited supervision, perform administrative, supervisory, and professional work in the  planning, development, and operation of a comprehensive public recreation program for the  County. Duties include supervising assigned personnel; developing and administering County  recreation programs; directing overall operations and budget of the Recreation Department;  planning and supervising maintenance of facilities and equipment; overseeing and acting as  liaison between independent community centers and County Council.  Serves as liaison for Colleton County for the Splash into Safety portable pool program. Oversees tournament operations of the Ace Basin Sports Complex and the County Fitness Center.  Ability to fill in for essential personnel in their absence such as the Athletic Director, Finance Manager, Concession Manager, and Tournament Coordinator positions. Reports to the Assistant County Administrator.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Master’s degree preferred, or a related field and six+ years of experience in Recreation Administration at the supervisory level; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification within 30 days of employment, DHEC ServSafe Food Manager Certification within 6 months of employment, Certified Pool Operator Certification within 6 months of employment.  Extensive financial and budgetary management experience required.   Pre-employment drug screen and a satisfactory background check also required.
