Colleton County Fire-Rescue's Emergency Management Division is closely monitoring the Edisto River due to historic flooding in Orangeburg County. Both the North and South Fork of the Edisto River in Orangeburg reached record setting heights due massive amounts of rainfall. Citizens along the Edisto River should prepare for the Edisto River to reach Moderate Flood Stage, possibly even Major Flood Stage, in the next few days. Residents are encouraged to prepare now.

The USDA included Colleton County in the disaster declaration for emergency loan assistance for farms that received damage from Hurricane Helene. Eligible family farmers may qualify for Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency (EM) loan assistance. Eligible farmers will have until June 6, 2025 to apply for loan assistance. The USDA-FSA offers multiple Disaster Assistance Programs to assist farmers in South Carolina. For additional information call the USDA Farm Service Agency at 803-806-3820.

Basic flood/cleaning buckets are now available for Colleton County residents who have been affected by flooding. The buckets are ready for distribution at Colleton County Fire-Rescue’s Station #36. CCFR Station #36 is located at 19576 Augusta Highway. The buckets will be available today, until 5 PM and tomorrow, Augusta 15, from 8 AM to 5 PM, while supplies last.
Despite Colleton County receiving record rainfall, two EF-1 tornadoes and the highest Edisto river levels since 1945, we are happy to report there have been no injuries or deaths so far as a result of TS Debby.
