In conjunction with South Carolina Emergency Management Division's Full Scale Exercise Week, the Fire-Rescue Department, the Sheriff's Office along with several other state and local agencies will conduct several exercises starting on March 10 and will conclude on March 15, 2025. The purpose of the exercises are to test the county's ability to respond, mitigate and recover from different scenarios and to enhance public safety in Colleton County.
Colleton County Fire-Rescue's Emergency Management Division is closely monitoring the Edisto River due to historic flooding in Orangeburg County. Both the North and South Fork of the Edisto River in Orangeburg reached record setting heights due massive amounts of rainfall. Citizens along the Edisto River should prepare for the Edisto River to reach Moderate Flood Stage, possibly even Major Flood Stage, in the next few days. Residents are encouraged to prepare now.
