Veterans Affairs Office

The primary responsibility of the Colleton County Veterans Affairs Office is to execute the appropriate actions to determine a veteran’s and their dependents’ entitlement to federal and state benefits administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs.  You may apply through this office for compensation, pension, survivor’s benefits, burial and memorial benefits, home loans and educational assistance, as well as VA Government Life Insurance.  If you wish to obtain copies of your military service records or replace your medals, we will be glad to assist you.

Applications for enrollment for VA Health Care and for the Veterans Victory House State Nursing Home in Walterboro are also available.

Contact us with questions regarding eligibility requirements. Please provide a copy of your DD Form 214 (discharge).  If you do not have your DD Form 214, our office can assist you with obtaining a copy through the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis.

Generally, men and women veterans with similar service may be eligible. VA benefits will not be provided to any veteran or dependent wanted for an outstanding felony or warrant.
