Colleton County Resumes Normal Operations Friday
Colleton County is no longer under a Tropical Storm Warning; therefore normal operations will resume Friday, August 9. We understand there are several road closures that are in place, and we are strongly encouraging commuters to not to drive around barricades, exercise extreme caution while traveling, and plan your routes accordingly. SCDOT has compiled a list of road closures and they can be found by visiting https://ris.scdot.org/RoadConditionsForm.aspx. An overall view of damage reports for Colleton County can be found by visiting www.colletonfire.com/damgemap. The Colleton County Emergency Operations Center will transition this evening, at 8 PM, from OPCON 1 to OPCON 2. Emergency Officials will continue to monitor the river levels and are prepared to respond if called upon.
Edisto Beach resumed normal operations today. The National Weather Service confirmed Edisto Beach was affected by two separate EF-1 Tornadoes. One touched down in the 100 Block of Palmetto Blvd and the other at the 2700 Block of Palmetto. These tornadoes caused extensive damage to several businesses and residences. Town officials, first responders, ESF Partners, and volunteers worked diligently to get the town opened.
Walterboro City Government will resume normal operations Friday, August, 9. Trash collection will also resume tomorrow.
