Colleton County Officials Monitoring Catastrophic Flooding from Tropical Storm Debby

The State of Emergency remains in place for South Carolina. Colleton County officials are closely monitoring TS Debby.  Colleton County is  experiencing flooding and there was a significant weather event at Edisto Beach that caused damage to several homes and businesses, no injuries have been reported. Edisto Beach does not have power and this outage may remain in place for a while. Colleton County will continue to feel the effects of TS Debby through Friday.  The Colleton County EOC moved to OPCON 1 at 8:00 AM, and is operating 24 hours a day. 

Colleton County sandbag operations will continue until 5:00 PM today, weather permitting. 

All nonessential departments with Colleton County Government have closed, and will remain closed tomorrow. 

All nonessential departments with Walterboro City Government have closed, and will remain closed tomorrow and Thursday with only essential personnel reporting. A determination on garbage pickup for Thursday will be made by tomorrow at noon. 

Although no evacuations are planned, residents living in flood zones or on/near the rivers should seek higher ground at an alternate location.
