For the first time in quite some time, Dogwood Hills Golf Course welcomed twenty youth golfers for a three-day golf camp in July. The camp was held on days the course is closed for maintenance, allowing the campers to have full reign over the course. Three very talented Colleton County Parks and Recreation employees instructed the campers and provided lessons on the basics of golf, rules of the game, and sportsmanship. On the final day of camp, the hot July sun proved to be too much for the campers, so the staff quickly organized several challenging indoor games. All campers were given a tee-shirt and a sleeve of golf balls at the end of camp.
“We, [Colleton County Parks and Recreation], were very pleased to offer this to our community, and we are exploring ideas to expand and offer other youth sports camps. We are looking forward to hosting the golf camp again next summer, so keep an eye out for the announcement as space is limited. I am very proud of Jim Bailey (Special Projects Coordinator), Drew Lloyd (Athletic Director) and Bryce Kinard for their efforts. They ‘teed up’ the idea and ‘hole-in-oned’ it!” said Aaron Bishop, Director of Colleton County Parks and Recreation.
