The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie campus is located at 807 Hampton Street in Walterboro, in the heart of the historic district.
Offering the first two years of almost any major offered by the University of South Carolina, USC Salkehatchie awards associate degrees but also, through partnership with sister four-year campuses, provides all the course work for Bachelor’s Degrees in Liberal Studies, Organizational Leadership, Nursinig and Elementary Education.
USC Salkehatchie offers students the best of both worlds – a University of South Carolina education but with a small college atmosphere. Faculty at USC Salkehatchie are USC faculty, approved by their respective USC department. Their main emphasis is teaching and class average sizes are 22. This gives students a unique opportunity to learn. Students enjoy ease of transition from USC Salkehatchie to USC four-year campuses. A simplified process allows them to change campuses by completing one simple form and acceptance is guaranteed as long as all academic requirements are met.
Tuition is very reasonable at USC Salkehatchie. For 2011-2012, in-state students paid $2,850 in tuition per semester. All federal and state financial aid programs are available. Students who graduate from high school with a 3.0 or higher qualify for LIFE scholarship which pays 90% of their tuition. USC Salkehatchie has a full academic scholarship program as well. Students who graduate in the top 10% of their class or score 1000 or better on the SAT may apply for academic scholarships in addition to LIFE. Salkehatchie Scholars is a new scholarship program that pays all of the expense, including books, of students who qualify academically for the program.
Enrollment for USC Salkehatchie is just under 1100 students in the AA and AS programs. About 100 more students are enrolled in the four-year degree programs on campus.
The USC Salkehatchie Campus is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and competes in Region X. The Indians field teams in men’s baseball, women’s softball, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s basketball.

Thunderbolt Career and Technology Center serves approximately 8oo students each semester on a block schedule in one or more of fifteen instructional labs. Program offerings include fifteen of the sixteen South Carolina Career Clusters and twenty of the twenty-nine individual Graduation Plans (IGP).
